Day 24: 341 days left….94 books to go!

Exodus 14:5-15
  • The Israelites were on their way...trekking out of Egypt, towards the Red Sea...when God hardened Pharoh's herat and he began to pursue soon as the Israelites realized they were being chased-down, they were terrified and accused Moses of leading them out in the dessert to die!  After everything God had just accomplished, they still had no faith in Him.....but Moses stood firm, "Do not be afraid.  Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today...The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still."  Exodus 14: 13 & 14  My husband actually painted me a canvas of the last part of that verse once for a compels me to believe its' truth....

  • See how God continues to fight for them..."Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel's army, withdrew and went behind them.  The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel.  Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.  Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land.  The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left...The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen- the entire army of Pharoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea.  Not one of them survived...That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore.  And when the Israelites saw the great power the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant."  Chapter 14: 19-22, 28, 30-31
  • Moses sang out to Lord, "The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.  He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father's God, and I will exalt Him.  The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name...In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed.  In your strenth you will guide them to your holy dwelling."  Chapter 15, Verses 2, 3 & 13
Matthew 19:16-20:16
  • A rich man asks Jesus what he must do to be saved..."If you want to enter life, obey the commandments...If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.  Then come, follow me."  Chapter 19, Verses 17 & 21
