Day 3: 362 days left...99 books to go!

  • Personal Status:  Cannot shake this cold....but lucky to have been @ home with time to get over it!
  • Baby Status:  19 Weeks & 2 days....not moving around so that I can feel him/her much lately....
READING:
  • Genesis 12-14:   Chapter 12 is the Call of Abram...first verse made me think of what Jay & I talk about doing someday..."The Lord had said to Abram, 'Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land  will show you."   We often talk about moving across the world to a different country for a while...have our kids grow up learning multiple languages....something exciting like that....and a deterrant is always that we'd be leaving our family & friends behind...but if we felt God call us to go somewhere...I would hope that like Abram, that we would....Besides...Abram didn't have phones & facebook & skype!
    • I love how Abram is always "calling on the name of the Lord" (Chapter 12, verse 8 & Chapter 13, verse 4)...I wonder what that really looks like....is it the same as praying?
  • Matthew 5:1-20  The Beatitudes  I don't know if I will ever fully understand the complexities of the Beatitudes....but they're so poetic & inspiring....
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted
because of righteousness,
for theirs in the kingdom of heaven."  Matthew 5: 3-10
    • Then there are the verses about salt & light....a reminder to never be ashamed of what I believe, but willing & eager to give an answer to those who ask and live a life that coincides with my beliefs..............
  • Simple Abundance:  Mediation as Meditation  Okay reading for today...nothing to blog about!
  • The Love Dare:  Love is Thoughtful  Today's Dare is to contact Jay @ some point throughout the day just to ask him how his day is working and if there's anything I can do for him....be thoughtful of him for no reason at all, with no agenda......except to complete this challenge!
  • A Tale of Two Cities:  Slow-going on chapter 2.....this one will likely not be read in the 3.65 days allotted for each book....the nitty-gritty part of the challenge begins!
    • In about chapter 4 now...have remembered that I attempted to read this book a couple of years ago and although the language is hard to follow, a few key parts are sounding familiar....will catch-up to where I gave off the last time soon!
