Day 8: 357 days left….98 books to go!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend everyone!  My husband & I are off for Calgary today to celebrate with my Grandparents!  I'm looking forward to them all seeing my big baby belly for the first time & letting them in on the secret of what we're having!  Baby's feeling restless today with all of my anxiousness with the trip, no doubt!  20 Weeks & 2 days pregnant today!

READING:
  • Genesis 27-28
    • Jacob steals his brother Esau's blessing for the firstborn in today's reading...It's interesting to me the importance that used to be placed on being First-Born...especially among sons....and the specific blessings the patriarchs would give that held great significance...
    • In Chapter 28, Jacob dreams of a stairway to heaven & the Lord speaks to him...he responds by saying, "How awesome is this place!  This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."  Verse 17  And Jacob declares there that the Lord is his God.
  • Matthew 8:28-9:17   These chapters are so filled with stories, it's hard to process everything...1st, Jesus encounters 2 men who are possessed by demons & the demons immediately acknowledge Him by saying, "What do you want with us, Son of God?"  Verse 29  Even the demons declare that Jesus is God!  Then Jesus tells a paralyzed man whose friends have brought him to be healed, that his sins are forgiven!  Jesus says, "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..."  Verse 6  And then He heals the paralyzed man, who walks home..."When the crowd saw this they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to men."  Verse 8  At the end of this reading, Jesus calls Matthew the tax collector, a known sinner, to follow Him & He dines with he & other degenerate citizens that night.  When He is questioned about this, He wisely says, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick...For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."  Verse 12-13       He came for you & me....
  • Simple Abundance  Poise Wreckers
    • "No quality is more attractive than poise- that deep sense of being at ease with yourself and the world."  -Good Housekeeping, September 1947
    • "Never dress to impress others:  dress to express your authentic sense of style.  The only way we become truly at ease with ourselves is by knowing who we are."  This Sarah says after getting a new haircut & outfit and completely nerving herself out of her skin for an appointment with an intimidating person...she learned that she would have conveyed so much more confidence had she just been herself.
    • "Because when we're not obsessively focusing on ourselves or our shortcomings, our smiles become warmer, our laughter more spontaneous, and our thoughtfulness blossoms."
    • "When we feel at ease with ourselves, we feel at ease with the world."
  • The Love Dare  Love makes good impressions
    •  Talking about how we go out of our way to greet others politely but often don't think about how we greet our spouses...."When someone communicates that htey are glad to see you, your personal sense of self-worth increases.  You feel more important and valued.  That's because a good greeting sets the stage for positive and healthy interaction.  Like love, it puts wind in your sails."
    • Today's Challenge is to take an opportunity to greet Jay warmly so that he knows how glad I am to see him & have him around and to think about how I greet him from day to day, in the morning, on the phone, etc.  Good Challenge!
  • Charlotte's Web   I spent so much time working on my blog yesterday, I didn't even crack it....luckily I'll have some airport & flying time today to get to it!
